"Racing, Competing, it's in my blood. It's part of me, it's part of my life; I have been doing it all my life and it stands out above everything else" - Ayrton Senna
HISTORY
The first bike I got onto was a Lucky 7 CAG. Rewind back to 2006, this little bike was my introduction to the world of motor racing. On this day, I finally started growing some hair on my chest. As I ventured on, I realised how unforgiving these little bikes can be when taken to the high speed of open-class.
As soon as I was tall enough to reach the footpegs, my dad taught me how to ride his Honda XR200R. My first time with interchangeable gears.
As time went on, I eventually started competing in far more race days on a regular basis.
This was where I found I had a passion for the mechanical dynamic, especially after how Lucky 7 water tragedy. As time went on, an accelerated bike and quicker lap times became my centre focus.
I always kept trying to find new ways to squeeze out more performance.
Soon an opportunity arose to take a Ducati Classic around Kyalami Thanks to OTRE (Clinton Pienaar).
Since I managed to keep the Ducati in once piece, Clinton organised a GP125. After a ride around Midvaal Raceway, I was offered the chance to punish the bike for a season.
Unfortunately a large sum of cash ($$$$$) was needed for a single race day. A sum that maybe in my late 50's, I could afford.
Sine then, I have had several opportunities to ride superbikes around some of South Africa's national circuits such as Killany in Cape Town, Phakisa in Welkom and Kyalami in Midrand. These rides included race bikes such as the Yamaha R6 and R1, the Triumph 675R and the Kawasaki ZX10R.
During this time I progressed from pocket bikes to Scooters and then finally onto Super Motards.
Currently I sit upon a Yamaha YZ450R which I'm punishing with good results. This is great considering that the bike was converted in a really small space of time with limited time and a non-existent budget (Where there's a will, there's a way).
THE FUTURE
As I look toward the future I focus on creating a name, growing a community and to bestow my Knowledge/Experience onto those who need it.
I hope to ride exceptional bikes and very beautiful girls. I expect more broken bones, falls and crashes (Isle of Man TT anyone?).
And lastly, I hope to find sponsors just as passionate as I am. Those who see potential in escalating the both of us to a national championship where we can both benefit from the successes.
